Substrate nutrient soil is a type of growing medium formulated with natural diatomaceous earth as the carrier, supplemented with organic nutrient substrates, controlled-release fertilizers, water-retaining agents, and other components beneficial to plant growth.
Diatomaceous earth boasts a highly developed porous structure, offering excellent moisture retention, breathability, and thermal insulation. It can be used as an ingredient in potting mixes, as a mulch for potted plants, or as a ground cover in landscaped gardens, delivering strong stability and outstanding results. Granular diatomaceous earth is ideal for use in growing media, enhancing aeration and promoting root development.
Diatomaceous earth–based growing media can be used in soilless cultivation and are an environmentally friendly, recyclable material. After a period of use, the media can be disinfected with a potassium permanganate solution and, following exposure to direct sunlight, reused.
